‘ Process of raising and planting the seedlings

Ÿ The seedlings
As for the seedlings, we mainly adopted early fruition varieties such as cashew nuts, neres and mangoes taking the villagers' food situation into account. As for the seeds, we obtained them by taking directly from trees as well as by purchasing.@The raising period of seedlings of cashew nuts, mangoes and neres is 3 months, 4 months, and 8 months respectively.

Ÿ Afforest activities
We started to plant trees in Molota in 1999, and Samureya in 2000. The newly planted were 250 pieces of seedlings of the cashew nuts, the mango and the nere per hector. In the first year of the reforestation activities in the Molota, 10,500 seedlings are planted in the field of 42 hectors. The ratio of varieties is composed of 60% of cashew nuts, 30% of mangoes, and 10% of neres. This composition of the varieties is the result of our placing the highest priority to cashew nuts which fruition can be expected as early as in the third year from planting. The size of the planting area in Molota was 66.2ha in the year 2000 and 30.4ha in 2001 making 138.6ha in total.
As for Samureya, the size of the area is 28ha in 2000, 41ha in 2001 and 7ha in 2002; 76ha in total.
